Requirements:

Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing (ADN or BSN) from an accredited nursing program.

Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment.

Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
-
PACU-specific certification, such as the Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse (CPAN), may be preferred.

Experience: Previous experience in a PACU, critical care, or surgical setting is typically required.

Strong clinical skills in monitoring and caring for patients post-anesthesia.

Skills: Excellent assessment and critical thinking skills.

Ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Job Responsibilities:

Patient Assessment and Monitoring: Monitor patients' vital signs and level of consciousness post-surgery.

Assess patients for any signs of complications and manage post-operative pain and discomfort.

Care and Recovery: Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the physician.

Provide care and support to patients as they recover from anesthesia, ensuring their safety and comfort.

Communicate effectively with the surgical team, anesthesia providers, and other healthcare professionals.

Educate patients and their families about post-operative care and discharge instructions.

Respond to medical emergencies in the PACU, initiating life-saving measures if necessary.

Ensure equipment and medications are readily available and functional for emergency situations.

Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including assessments, interventions, and patient responses.
